SSI absolute encoder submodule
The SSI submodule is a plug-in for the communication processors SSM-BG41, BG42 and BG43.

Performance features
Wiring at reduced costs (only 4 wires)
Maximum interference immunity due to synchronised and symmetrical clock and data signals
Extreme transmission safety by using the cyclic Gray code
Extreme operating safety due to galvanic separation
High processing rate ensured by clock rates up to 625 kHz

Fields of application
The SSI submodule is used to:
Connect all SSI generators (absolute coded transducer) to the SSM BG4x. This module allows the connection of SSI signals directly to the Simatic® from Siemens S5 PLC family.

The submodule converts the serial information of the transducer into parallel information, thus making the information available for the communication processor SSM-BG4x.
The required power supply for the SSI transducers are available on the module, therefore external powersupplies are not required, thus safing money.
